Carved from western red cedar with a chainsaw and power tools and finished with Minwax Helmsman Indoor/Outdoor Spar Urethane. 

Measures 23 inches tall; 13.5 inches across the widest part. Satin finish. Actual weight 5.0 lbs.

CARVING CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Protect Your Home’s Surfaces

Your piece of art is made from cedar. Cedar will stain surfaces as tannins leach out. Be sure to place a plastic/non-permeable barrier, such as a plant coaster, between the art and the surface it's placed on.

Natural Cracking and Best Environmental Conditions

Cracks (called “checks”) in wood logs are natural and a part of the charm and aesthetic of chainsaw carving art. Wood naturally loses and gains moisture from the air—as a wood log dries it will always relieve stress by developing cracks. Your carving will develop natural cracks on one or more sides; the intentional relief cut will encourage the wood, but not guarantee it, to flex the most on the backside of the piece.

To slow cracks, it will be best for your carving to be in a place that stays cool, not too dry, out of direct sunlight, and off of bare ground. Outdoors will be a better choice, while indoors will be much warmer and drier.

Protect Your Carving with an Annual Coat of Sealer

All carvings are protected for indoor or outdoor display by being sealed with 2-3 coats of sealer. To maintain weather protection and shine, especially outdoors, add a new coat of seal annually in spring/summer.

Carvings are sealed with one of the following:

*Clear gloss finish: Minwax Helmsman oil-based spar urethane

*Semi-gloss finish: Minwax Helmsman oil-based spar urethane

*Satin finish: Minwax Helmsman oil-based spar urethane
